Marisella Ills

Four-Year-Old Teacher

Ms. Marisela has a bachelor’s degree in accounting but grew an interest for the classroom when she moved to Miami and started doing volunteer work at a preschool.  She has taught toddlers through school age children during her 19 years in the classroom.  This is her 2nd year as a four-year-old teacher at our center.   In her free time, she enjoys going to live concerts with her husband and two grown sons.

Yaima Simon

Director​

Ms. Yaima has been the director at Springview Academy of Hialeah since it opened its doors in 2015.  Prior to being a director, she was an Early Childhood educator for 15 years.  Ms. Yaima’s friendly personality and ties to the community has helped Springview Academy grow significantly.  She has 2 teenage daughters and loves to dance and relax at the beach.

Ivonne Gacel

Principal

Ivonne Gacel has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Maste’rs degree in Educational Leadership. She has over 9 years of experience in the education field. She has taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade and Third Grade. As a first-year principal she feels excited and grateful for the opportunity to be able to provide the students with a fun and exciting school year. Education has always been her passion, from being in the classroom inspiring children to be the best version of themselves to working with teachers and motivating them to achieve greatness in their classrooms. She is married with a daughter and a son who both attend Springview Academy. When she isn’t leading the way for our school she enjoys crafting, baking and party planning. Her favorite quote to live by as the principal is: “Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader… they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role – Always about the Goal.” -Lisa Haisha.

Dorothy Acosta-Hays

Art/Music Teacher

Ms. Hays has been an art teacher for over 25 years. Her love of art became obvious when she was a high school student and she would be commissioned by her teachers to draw or paint pictures for the school’s bulletin boards. She feels group interaction and cooperation are vital for student development and strives to teach students social skills while applying to art as well as everyday living. In addition to being an art teacher she is a practicing artist and has been commissioned to paint portraits for people.

Maria Martinez

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Maria is the cheerful face that greets students and parents every morning. She has a degree in Psychology and specialized in Child Psychology prior to working at our center. Her professionalism and great organization skills are a value to Springview Academy of Hialeah. She is married and loves to dance, sing and try new foods.

Maria Rodriguez

Infant Teacher

Ms. Maria has been an infant teacher for over 20 years. Parents lovingly refer to her as “grandma” because of her extensive early childhood experience and loving demeanor. Ms. Maria is married and has 4 daughters, 2 of who are also teachers. She likes spending her weekends babysitting her 6 grandkids.

Saily Chavez

Infant Teacher Assistant

This is Ms. Saily’s first year at Springview Academy. She was hired after she volunteered at our center while she was completing her Child Development Associates program. She loves working with kids but loves to spend her day in the infant classroom. Ms. Saily likes to go the beach and take naps with her 6-year-old son.

Sonia Gonzalez

Toddler Teacher

Ms. Sonia has been in the Early Childhood field for 14 years and at Springview Academy of Hialeah since its opening in 2015. She studied accounting but always had a fondness for kids. She has a daughter who is also studying to be an early childhood teacher and a granddaughter who attends Springview Academy of Hialeah.

Caridad Rodriguez

Two-Year-Old Teacher

Caridad Rodriguez is known to all her students as “Ms. Marita”. She followed in her mom’s footsteps and went into the childcare field where she has been a two-year-old teacher for 18 years. Ms. Marita has been at our center for 4 years. She is the mom to a boy and girl and likes spending time at home playing with them.

Yaremis Vega

Three-Year-Old Teacher

Although Ms. Yaremis has been with Springview Academy since 2018 she has been an early childhood educator for 9 years. She says her favorite part of her job is listening to her 3-year-old students tell stories. She is married with 2 children, on of whom attends Springview Academy of Hialeah.

Terri Valdez

VPK Teacher

Ms. Terri started her career in the medical field but always had a passion for children. After 11 years as a teacher she joined Springview Academy of Hialeah in 2018. Ms. Terri’s calm and creative personality is an asset to her students and our center. She enjoys reading non-fiction novels and spending time with her husband and two children.

Elizabeth Dominguez

Floater

Ms. Elizabeth started her career in Early Childhood as a volunteer at Springview Academy of Hialeah in 2017. She transitioned into a fulltime position a year later where she assists in the kitchen, office and all the classrooms. Ms. Elizabeth is married with 2 boys. She likes to spend her time cycling and playing with her two granddaughters.

Karen Morales

Kindergarten

Ms. Morales joined Springview Academy this year. Prior to being a Kindergarten teacher, she worked as a First-Grade teacher for 2 years in a private school. She loves the energy Kindergarteners bring into the classroom; their inquisitiveness makes her want to go and teach them, and push them harder. When she is not teaching inquiring minds she likes to read, craft and travel.

Meryen Alfonso

First Grade

Ms. Alfonso is a first-year teacher with a degree in Elementary Education. Prior to being an educator, she was a volunteer in a non-profit organization working with children ages 0-5. At a young age she realized teaching was her calling and purpose, seeing children’s different ways of learning and interacting was her dream come true.  She spends her free time volunteering and helping those in need at her church.

Bernice Del Valle

Second Grade

Ms. Del Valle was born in Chicago. Later in life she moved to Puerto Rico where she studied and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching at the elementary level for 18 years and has been at Springview Academy since 2017. She loves teaching because she gets to contribute and see the children mature and grow into students that love to learn. She is married and has two adult children.

Jeissevette Del Barro

Third Grade

Ms. Del Barro is a third-year teacher but this is her first-year teaching third grade. She has a degree in exceptional education and loves the challenge of having an inclusion class. The main reason she loves teaching is because she gets to inspire students not only academically but also personally. She is married and has an infant boy who also attends Springview Academy.

Milagros Santi

Fourth Grade

Ms. Santi has been at Springview Academy of Hialeah since 2015. She has been in the education field for 10 years and started out as a volunteer in a kindergarten class. Her passion for teaching grew when she became a paraprofessional for autistic students. She loves teaching because it allows her to be part of a child’s life and contribute to the wellbeing of their future.  She says, “teaching and engaging with my students gives me the most gratification feeling in life.” Ms. Santi has two daughters, on of whom is studying elementary education as well.

Krystal Diaz

Resource and Enrichment Teacher

Ms. Diaz was a Kindergarten teacher at our school before transitioning into the resource and enrichment teacher position. She has a degree in Exceptional Education and has 5 years classroom experience. Ms. Diaz’s innovative, hands on approach to education helps her connect with all her students and their learning styles. When Ms. Diaz is not in the classroom she can be found coaching the Springview Academy cheerleading team, cooking or dancing.
